Angel City Pit Bulls has raised over $130k toward our $150k goal.
Please consider donating before April 30th to help us reach our target!
On March 18-19, 2023, runners and walkers from Angel City PIt Bulls (ACPB) gathered at Dodger Stadium to take part in the Los Angeles Marathon, Charity Challenge Half-Marathon, and LA Big 5k. For Team ACPB, this was a milestone event, marking their tenth year of participation in these races. As a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting pit bull adoption, welfare, and education, this event is crucial for ACPB as it represents their most significant fundraising opportunity of the year. For me, as a first-time participant, it was a chance to support an organization that I believe in and join a community of volunteers who share my passion for pits.
Established in 2010, Angel City Pit Bulls’ main objective is to advocate for pit bulls and other bully breeds that have been greatly affected by overpopulation and high euthanasia rates. Along the way, the rescue has expanded its efforts to include another vulnerable group in Los Angeles city shelters, by providing foster care for unweaned kittens (called “pittens”) until they are old enough for adoption. In 2022, ACPB was able to take in 216 dogs, and 275 foster “pittens.” Scroll through the slides below for more stats on their life-saving work!
Team ACPB
A major fundraising effort of Angel City Pits since 2014, Team ACPB has grown from 35 to over 100 members, and has been a Premier Charity of the LA Marathon for the last 5 years. Team ACPB encourages participants of all levels, from casual walkers to experienced runners, and provides support such as coaching and organized group runs/walks leading up to the main event. If you’ve ever been interested in signing up for a race, but felt intimidated or don’t know where to begin, this is a great community to get involved with – and fundraising for animals is excellent motivation! Why I #RUN4PITS
I’ve had the opportunity to support Angel City Pit Bulls in multiple capacities over the past year, including volunteering at their facility in Jefferson Park, taking dogs on field trips, helping at ACPB Academy, and fostering three puppies. ACPB is entirely volunteer-run, and I’ve seen all the ways donation dollars get put to work. The cost of animal care alone totaled over $367,000 in 2022, with an average of $1,700 per dog.
On a personal level, my time with ACPB has provided me with valuable training experience, allowed me to earn my Fear Free Shelter Certification, and even led to the adoption of my new puppy, Judith!

Ways to Support Angel City Pits
Although this year’s race events are over, there’s still time to donate through April 30. The rescue is always in need of volunteers, fosters, and adopters – and with kitten season approaching, there will definitely be a need for short-term “pitten” fosters this spring! To learn more about ways to support, visit angelcitypits.org, and follow on Instagram for updates about volunteer open houses and other events. Thank you to everyone who made this fundraiser a success!!
